| PUBLIC HEARING MINUTES The Prattville City Council met in Public Hearing on August 3rd at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall. Roll was called and all were recorded as being present. AGENDA ITEMS 1. RESOLUTION: TO DECLARE VARIOUS WEEDED LOTS TO BE A PUBLIC NUISANCE AND ORDERING THEIR ABATEMENT PER §11-67-1 et. Seq., OF THE CODE OF ALABAMA, 1975, AS AMENDED. Mr. Alonzo Motley, 107 Faulk Quarters, Prattville, Al 36067, appeared before the Council to express his appreciation for the action being taken by the City regarding weeded lots in his neighborhood. Mr. Richard Moulton, 1165 Faulk Avenue, Prattville, Al 36067, came before the Council in favor of Resolution number 1, which addresses weeded lots, in particular, his neighbor’s property at 1142 East Main Street. Mr. Bennie Hollon, 1142 East Main Street, Prattville, Al 36066, appeared before the Council in opposition to Resolution number 1. Mr. Hollon stated that his property is now in compliance with the Alabama State Code and requested his name to be removed from Resolution number 1. During discussion, City Planner Joel Duke clarified that the City will not take action against property owners who have complied with the order to abate property prior to the date the Public Hearing is held. He further stated that if a particular property owner allows the same property to be in violation of §11-67-1 et. Seq., of the Code of Alabama, 1975, as amended, at a later date, the legal process would begin again. Councilman Carter stated that it is his desire to broaden the Resolution to encompass issues such as junk that has accumulated on properties and structures that are in obvious disrepair. 2. ORDINANCE: REQUEST TO REZONE PROPERTY LOCATED IN THE HISTORIC DOWNTOWN DISTRICT KNOWN AS THE PRATT MILL/GURNEY PROPERTY FROM M-1 TO R-1 AND B-2. No one appeared in favor of or opposition to the proposed rezoning. City Planner Joel Duke stated that Continental Eagle would remain zoned M- 1, while only a portion of Gurney would be rezoned. He further stated that the east side of the mill pond would be rezoned to B-2. Mr. Duke also stated that the rezoning was initiated by the Prattville Planning Commission. ADJOURN: There being no further business to come before the Council, Councilman Hall made the motion to adjourn and the motion was seconded. The meeting closed at 6:22 p.m. APPROVED:
