CITY COUNCIL MINUTES
SPECIAL SESSION
WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 15, 2004
10:00 A.M.

The Prattville City Council met in special session on Wednesday, September 15, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall with Council President Pro-Tempore Mike Renegar presiding. Roll was called and Council President Argo was recorded as being absent.

MAYOR’S REPORT:

Mayor Byard thanked Councilman Carter for his four years of service to the City and Councilman Hall for his eight years of service. He also congratulated Mr. Bill Gillespie and Mr. Nathan Fank who won in the run-off election on September 14th.

The Mayor advised the Council of a safety briefing at 11:00 a.m. in the Council Chambers regarding Hurricane Ivan. He also stated that a department head meeting would be held immediately following.

AGENDA ITEMS

1. RESOLUTION: CANVASS RESOLUTION. (RESOLUTION BOOK 2004, PAGE 072).

Councilman Miller made the motion to adopt the Resolution and Councilman Wood seconded the motion. There being no discussion, the Resolution was adopted with the following vote:

AYES: CARTER, WOOD, MILLER, RENEGAR, MACREADY, HALL 6
NAYS: NONE 0
ABSTAINED: NONE 0
ABSENT: NONE 0

2. RESOLUTION: TO PROCLAIM THE EXISTENCE OF A LOCAL EMERGENCY. (RESOLUTION BOOK 2004, PAGE 073).

Councilman Macready made the motion to adopt the Resolution and Councilman Hall seconded the motion. There being no discussion, the Resolution was adopted with the following results:

AYES: CARTER, WOOD, MILLER, RENEGAR, MACREADY, HALL 6
NAYS: NONE 0
ABSTAINED: NONE 0
ABSENT: NONE 0

CLOSING COMMENTS:

Councilman Miller spoke of the friendships he had formed over the last four years with members of the Council and further stated that it had been a pleasure working with Councilmen Carter and Hall.

Councilman Macready echoed Councilman Miller’s comments regarding serving with Councilmen Carter and Hall and also stated that he looked forward to working with Council-elect Gillespie and Fank.

Councilman Hall stated that it had been his pleasure serving the City of Prattville for the past eight years.

Council President Pro-Tempore Renegar commended the City Clerk’s office on how well the election process had been run.

ADJOURN:

There being no further business to come before the Council, Councilman Macready made the motion to adjourn and Councilman Miller seconded the motion. The meeting closed at 10:17 a.m.
