AGENDA

1. RESOLUTION: TO DECLARE VARIOUS WEEDED LOTS TO BE A PUBLIC NUISANCE AND ORDERING THEIR ABATEMENT PER TITLE 11, CHAPTER 67 OF THE CODE OF ALABAMA, 1975, AS AMENDED.

No one appeared in favor of or opposition to the Resolution.

City Planner Joel Duke stated that none of the properties listed in this Resolution have been brought up to code as of this date.

Councilman Renegar arrived at 6:07 p.m.

2. ORDINANCE: TO REZONE PROPERTY LOCATED IN WILKINSON SUBDIVISION (LOTS 30-32 AND 2, COVERED BRIDGE SUBDIVISION) COVERED BRIDGE PARKWAY FROM B-2 AND R-6 TO R-5.

Ms. Jewel Wilkinson, 209 High Point Ridge, appeared before the Council in favor of the proposed rezoning. She stated her desire to construct homes with a cottage look rather than the traditional garden home look.

City Planner Joel Duke stated that there are four existing lots off of Old Farm Lane located just south of Highway 14. There will be a total of 18 homes that average 1,500 square feet.

Councilman Gillespie questioned if green space is provided in the plans of the subdivision. Mr. Duke stated that walking trails and additional green space have been reserved.

Councilman Macready asked Mr. Duke if he felt that this property was ready for the City Council to move forward on. Mr. Duke’s response was yes.

Councilman Miller asked Mr. Duke if the detention ponds on the property were spring fed. Mr. Duke stated that the detention ponds were drainage fed by Mr. Avant’s cotton field, which is located across the road.

No one appeared in opposition to the rezoning request.
