| SPECIAL SESSION
The Prattville City Council met in special session on Sunday, February 17th at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall with Council President Argo presiding. After the pledge of allegiance to the American Flag, Council President Argo gave the invocation. Roll was called and all were recorded as being present. AGENDA ITEM
1. RESOLUTION: TO PROCLAIM THE EXISTENCE OF A LOCAL EMERGENCY. (RESOLUTION BOOK 2008, PAGE 008).
Councilman Renegar made a motion to adopt the Resolution and Councilman Miller seconded the motion. During discussion, Mayor Byard gave a preliminary report of the tornado destruction including no fatalities, 20 injuries, two of which may possibly be severe, at least 200 homes damaged, and several businesses with moderate to heavy damage. The Mayor reported that Doster Community Center is available as a shelter for tornado victims. He further stated that East Memorial Baptist Church will also be available if necessary. The Mayor announced a mandatory curfew of 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. until further notice for the affected areas. Councilman Renegar expressed his appreciation to the number of neighbors helping neighbors and the prompt, professional and helpful response of our emergency personnel. Mayor Byard thanked the Autauga County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) for keeping our citizens informed with the warning sirens. Council President Argo recognized members of the Autauga County Commission, State Representative Mac Gipson, Sheriff Herbie Johnson, and other representatives of City, County, State and Federal Agencies who were in attendance at the evening’s meeting.

There being no further business to come before the Council, Councilman Macready made a motion to adjourn and the motion was seconded. The meeting closed at 7:40 p.m.
