| PRATTVILLE CITY COUNCIL BUDGET PUBLIC HEARING MINUTES TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 28, 2010
CALL TO ORDER: The Prattville City Council met in public hearing on Tuesday, September 28th in the Council Chambers at 6:57 p.m. following the Council Work Session which was held at 5:30 p.m. at Doster Memorial Community Center. All councilmembers were recorded as being present. Citizens were asked to present questions in writing to the City Clerk regarding the FY 2010-2011 budget. The deadline for questions to be submitted was Friday, September 24th. Citizens were sent confirmation of receipt of their questions. Questions were sent to appropriate department heads for answers. Answers were forwarded to members of the Council. Council President Argo read aloud questions submitted by Mr. Clarke McLean, Mr. Jerry Cimis, Ms. DaLee Chambers, Mr. Charlie Graham, Mr. Jimmy Deas, Ms. Pat Cummins and Mr. Dave Melling. Answers to the questions were read during the public hearing. A copy of all questions and answers are made a part of the public record. When Council President Argo finished reading, he opened the floor to anyone who chose to speak at the podium. Time was limited to 3 minutes per individual. Ms. Jon Lee Finnegan, 211 Deer Trace, Prattville, AL 36067, spoke to the Council regarding her concern for the lack of line itemization in the budget. Steven Michael Brooks, business owner, 167 West Main Street, Prattville, AL 36067, appeared before the Council to thank them and the Mayor for their support. Mr. Brooks stated that he and his wife Carol were the recipients of the Retailer of the Year Award from the Alabama Retailers Association. Randy Grissett, President of the Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce, 216 Deerwood Drive, Prattville, AL 36067 appeared before the Council to urge support for funding of the Preferred Way Campaign. He reminded members of the Council of the debt incurred by the Chamber and the need for the allocation to offset this debt. Anthony Yarbrough, 321 Janice Street, Prattville, Al 36066, appeared before the Council to recommend that rather than cutting services, they look outside the box for ways to generate other sources of revenue. Mr. Jerry Cimis, 141 N. Chestnut Street, Prattville, AL 36067, appeared before the Council to thank them for answering some of his questions. He further urged the Council to change from a lump sum budget to a line item budget. There being no further business to come before the Council, the meeting adjourned at 8:43 p.m. APPROVED:
