4th Annual Canoe Trail Fun RunSpend some time with your family and friends and try out Prattville’s Autauga Creek canoe trail. Participants must provide their own equipment and register to participate. (The 2009 race had to be cancelled due to the overwhelming amount of debris after the flood in early May.) 7th Annual Cardboard Boat RaceBoaters save large boxes and anything cardboard that will make their boats float (no wax coated or painted boxes). Racers are also allowed to use 2 standard rolls of duct tape & 2 noodles. All boats must be assembled on site with a set time limit. Any boat made before start time will not be accepted for the race. 6th Annual Kids Spring FestThis free event provides fun for the whole family! Enjoy a day filled with games, live bands, puppet shows, magicians, storytellers, and fun demonstrations. This event is held at the Pratt Park Amphitheater in April each year. If you have questions or a group/individual who is interested in performing at this event, please call Leisure Services at 361-3640. 11th Annual Black History ProgramThis free event celebrates black history. Schools, churches, individuals, and local groups all perform for your viewing and listening pleasure. This has become a wonderfully entertaining and historically enlightening event for the entire family. Please join us at Doster Community Center on February 19, 2010 at 6 p.m. If you have a group or are an individual who is interested in performing at this event, please call Leisure Services at 361-3640. This year's guest speaker is Valorie Lawson. Valorie co-anchors the 6 and 10 p.m. news at WSFA12. She has more than 20 years experience in television and radio broadcasting. She is a graduate of Alabama A&M University. Valorie has been recognized by the National Association of Black Journalists for stories on Alabama's Blackbelt and Alabama's Civil Rights Foot Soldiers. 14th Annual Seniors Fish FestSenior Adults fish at Pratt Pond for this event. Lunch is provided (hot dog and soda). Water available throughout the day. Prizes are awarded for the first five seniors who catch and turn in a tagged fish to a Leisure Services staff member. One pole per person. There is a $1 participation fee. The catch limit is 7 fish. Pratt Pond remains closed from the end of this event until the end of the Kids Fish Fest each year. If you have questions, please call Leisure Services at 361-3640. 14th Annual Kids Fish FestCome join the fun and pull in the big one. Limit 4 catfish per child. Bring a rod and reel, bait and stringer. Children will participate in a biggest fish contest. Children should be between the ages of 5-14 and accompanied by a parent or guardian. (Parents will not be allowed to fish at all.) A limited amount of fishing poles and bait (chicken liver), will be provided. The first 5 kids to turn in a tagged fish will receive a prize. There is a morning and also, an afternoon session. At the end of the afternoon session, Pratt Pond will be reopened to the public for fishing. This is a free event, but you will need to pick up a ticket for each child at Doster Center prior to the event. If you have questions, please call Leisure Services at 361-3640.
