This division screens and interviews department applicants, coordinates continuing education programs for employees, purchases supplies and equipment and prepares a departmental budget, which is in excess of $6 million. This division is also responsible for entering data and compiling reports, grants, domestic violence programs, sex offender registration and notification, and clerical support personnel.

Computer Forensics investigates the illegal use of computers and the Internet by pursuing on-line criminal activity, which includes pornography, enticement, fraud, missing persons, etc.

The investigation of all felonies is the responsibility of General Crimes. Youth Aid is responsible for all cases involving crimes committed by, or against, a person under the age of 18. School Relations acts as a liaison between City schools and the Police Department, and provides assistance concerning students and programs. This division serves Crime Prevention/Neighborhood Watch programs, and monitors the Secret Witness Line.

Drug enforcement gathers intelligence and arrests persons involved in illegal narcotics sales and usage. The Special Operations Team consists of 9 highly trained and well-equipped police officers. In addition, two fire medics are assigned and trained members of the team. This division is also responsible for the firing range, and the new training facility which houses this division. They also conduct classes in Firearms Familiarization & Safety.

Officers in this division respond to routine and emergency calls and are responsible for crime prevention and detection, traffic enforcement and accident investigations. These officers also patrol approximately 30 square miles within the city limits in addition to the police jurisdiction. School crossing personnel report to this division.
