Holiday Schedules

Thanksgiving Holiday Sanitation Schedule

City offices will be closed on November 26th & 27th. Sanitation will not collect Residential Yard Trash or Household Garbage on November 26th, however, they will be open and running routes on Friday, November 27th.

Monday through Wednesday Household Garbage routes will be collected as normally scheduled. Thursday & Friday Household Garbage routes will be run on Friday, November 26th.

Monday and Tuesday's Residential Yard Trash will be collected as normally scheduled. On Wednesday, November 25th, Sanitation will collect all Wednesday and Thursday Residential Yard Trash routes. On Friday, November 27th, they will finish Thursday and collect Friday Residential Yard Trash routes.

The Sanitation Division observes the following major holidays:

  • New Year's Day
  • Martin Luther King, Jr./Robert E. Lee Birthday
  • Presidents' Day*
  • National Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Columbus Day - open for business citywide & Sanitation runs normal routes
  • Veterans' Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Friday after Thanksgiving*
  • Christmas Day

*Presidents' Day can be used during the Christmas holidays depending on how it falls in the week. The City Council will address the holiday schedule at the end of each fiscal year for the upcoming year.

If a major holiday falls on a Saturday, the Sanitation Division will observe it on the preceding Friday. If the major holiday falls on a Sunday, it will be observed on the following Monday. Routes not collected due to holidays will be picked up the next business day along with the routes for that day. All routes will be collected the day after Thanksgiving and Christmas.
