Holiday Schedules

Memorial Day
City offices will be closed on May 29th in observance of Memorial Day, however, Sanitation will collect all normal Monday garbage routes. Monday and Tuesday's yard trash routes will all be collected on Tuesday, May 30th.

The Sanitation Division observes the following major holidays:

  • New Year's Day
  • Martin Luther King, Jr./Robert E. Lee Birthday
  • Presidents' Day*
  • National Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Columbus Day - open for business citywide & Sanitation runs normal routes
  • Veterans' Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Friday after Thanksgiving*
  • Christmas Day

*Presidents' Day can be used during the Christmas holidays depending on how it falls in the week. The City Council will address the holiday schedule at the end of each fiscal year for the upcoming year.

If a major holiday falls on a Saturday, the Sanitation Division will observe it on the preceding Friday. If the major holiday falls on a Sunday, it will be observed on the following Monday. Routes not collected due to holidays will be picked up the next business day along with the routes for that day.
