Holiday Schedules

Christmas Holiday
Sanitation will be closed on Friday, December 23rd and Monday, December 26th. Friday's routes (along with Thursday's normal routes) will be collected on Thursday, December 22nd. Monday and Tuesday's routes will be collected on Tuesday, December 27th. The Recycling Center will be open from 7:30am until Noon on Monday, December 26th in case anyone wants to drop off recyclables or garbage.

New Year's Day
Sanitation will be closed on January 2nd. Monday and Tuesday's routes will be collected on Tuesday, January 3rd.

Lee/King Day
Sanitation will be closed on January 16th. Monday and Tuesday's routes will be collected on Tuesday, January 17th.

The Sanitation Division observes the following major holidays:

  • New Year's Day
  • Martin Luther King, Jr./Robert E. Lee Birthday
  • Presidents' Day*
  • National Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Columbus Day - open for business citywide & Sanitation runs normal routes
  • Veterans' Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Friday after Thanksgiving*
  • Christmas Day

*Presidents' Day can be used during the Christmas holidays depending on how it falls in the week. The City Council will address the holiday schedule at the end of each fiscal year for the upcoming year.

If a major holiday falls on a Saturday, the Sanitation Division will observe it on the preceding Friday. If the major holiday falls on a Sunday, it will be observed on the following Monday. Routes not collected due to holidays will be picked up the next business day along with the routes for that day.
