Who is affected? Residents whose property was annexed into the City of Prattville beginning in 2001, and who have had their garbage collected since that time by a private garbage collection company. Annexed areas and/or neighborhoods along Old Ridge Road are commonly referred to as the “Eastern Annexed Areas”. Annexed areas and/or neighborhoods along Northington Road, Indian Hills/Golson Road, Red Eagle Road, County Road 29, County Road 85, and Pierce Lane are commonly referred to as the “Western Annexed Areas”. Who will pick up my Household Garbage? The City of Prattville will begin picking up household garbage in all annexed areas. Garbage is defined as household foodstuff, paper, etc. When does this service begin? The City will begin collection of household garbage and trash in the annexed areas the week of Monday, March 1, 2010. How and when will the City pick up my garbage? Eastern Annexed Areas: Place all garbage in plastic bags (not in cans, boxes, or containers) by the curbside no later than 7:00 am on pick up days. Garbage will be collected on Tuesday and Friday of each week. Western Annexed Areas: Place all garbage in the container by the curbside no later than 7:00 am on pick up day. Garbage will be collected on Wednesday of each week. Containers will be provided by the City of Prattville; however until these containers are distributed, garbage will be collected in containers already in use. What about Residential Trash? The City of Prattville will begin residential trash pickup in all annexed areas. Trash is defined as limbs, leaves, grass clippings, boxes, etc. How and when will the City pick up my trash? Leaves, limbs, grass clippings, boxes, etc, should be placed curbside for pick up. City of Prattville boom trucks will collect trash. Eastern Annexed Areas: Trash pickup day will be determined by workload, however currently scheduled for collection on Thursday of each week. Western Annexed Areas: Trash pickup day will be determined by workload, however currently scheduled for collection on Friday of each week. What is the cost and how am I billed? Rates are currently $17.50 per month, and scheduled to move to $19.00 per month on July 1, 2010. This amount will be included in most affected resident’s monthly water bill.
