City of Prattville Finalizes Details for Independence Day Events

It's almost time for the City of Prattville's 11th annual 4th of July Celebration and patrons can expect that the holiday will definitely go off with a bang!
This year's 4th of July Parade theme is "Salute to Honored Veterans, Heroes in our Hearts". The parade beings at 9:00 a.m. at the Autauga County Courthouse and will end at Stanley-Jensen Stadium. Float participants are encouraged to decorate their entries with patriotic colors. Children on bikes, tricycles and scooters are also invited to participate in this family-fun parade. Grand marshals for this year's parade are all veterans who served in the Korean War from 1950-1953.
The annual Lion's Club Bar-B-Q and Camp Stew Sale will take place at Pratt Park at 10:00 a.m. There will be music, a patriotic program, bake sale and arts and crafts. This year a children's fun area will be featured with inflatable waterslides, and the Pratt Pool will be open for public swimming from 1pm-5pm.
The annual "Cardboard Boat Races", sponsored by the Dept. of Leisure Services, begin at 10am, with teams creating their competition boats out of cardboard and duct tape. Prizes include: Longest floating boat, the Titanic award for most dramatic sink, most creative and more. For information, call the Dept. of Leisure Services at 361-3640.
The annual fireworks presentation will be held at Stanley Jensen stadium. Gates open at 6pm with live entertainment presented by the Prattville Pops and the Prattville Community Chorus and a patriotic program. A children's area with inflatable slides and trampolines will also be on site. Fireworks begin at dark. The admission to this spectacular event is FREE and the public is encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs. NO pets or bottles allowed.
