Cooters Pond Improvement Project Underway PDFPrintE-mail

City of Prattville Planning & Development, Engineering, and Leisure Services Departments have joined together to complete an improvement project at Cooters Pond Park. The project entails widening the boat ramp, connecting the road on the lower level so that it makes a complete loop around the park, and adding a bike/pedestrian path around the park. Curbing in the parking lot is being reduced to better accommodate boat trailers.

Widening the boat ramp and the road addition will ease the boat onload and offload demands in the park. Leisure Services Director Drew Peterson stated that boaters and fishermen are really excited about this project. "It gives us a better chance at hosting more events while also taking care of our local fishermen and boat enthusiasts," said Peterson.

The bike/pedestrian path will be created when the paving is being done. The project will cost approximately $200,000 and is completely funded by federal grants. It should be completed by July 31st, 2010.
