Limited Duration Sales Tax Increase PDF Print E-mail

Effective May 1, 2011, the sales tax within the City of Prattville was increased to 9.5%. On December 20, 2011, the Prattville City Council passed an amendment to that ordinance to extend the 1% sales tax until December 31, 2012. The sales tax will decrease to 9% on January 1, 2013 and is set to expire on September 30, 2013. On October 1, 2013, the sales tax will revert to 8.5% in the City of Prattville.

Tax collected under this section 38-92(c) shall be expended only for existing debt service of the City of Prattville. Existing debt service means debt service owed on the date of passage of the amendment to the ordinance.
