McQueen-Smith Paving Project to Commence

ALDOT has issued the notice to proceed for the paving of McQueen Smith Road from Cobbs Ford Road to Highway 31. The contractor has been given 180 days to complete the work that will actually only take 2-3 weeks. They have not yet begun.

The City of Prattville's portion of the cost of this project is $90,000. These funds are being paid out of the gasoline tax collected within the City. The remainder of the funding comes from the Montgomery Metropolitan Planning Organization. The City of Prattville is a partner in the MPO, which provides transportation project funding and management in this area. The project total is $450,000.

Once work commences, please be aware of possible traffic delays or alternate traffic patterns.


Note:  Other paving projects slated for this year are:  Cobbs Ford Road from McQueen-Smith Road to Alabama Highway 6, Sheila Boulevard from Main Street to Memorial Drive, and Wetumpka Street from South Washington Street to Memorial Drive. The total cost of these projects is approximately $2 million and the City of Prattville's share of the cost totals $400,000.
