October is Rett Syndrome Month

October 3, 2012

Mayor Gillespie has proclaimed October to be Rett Syndrome Awareness month in the City of Prattville. Rett Syndrome is a devastating neuro-developmental disorder caused by a sporadic, genetic mutation of the MECP2 gene on the X chromosome and mainly affect females. It is our hope that bringing more awareness to this debilitating disease will spur more research towards a cure.
