Prattville Tactical Team Members Attended Training in Hoover PDFPrintE-mail

Recently, three members of Prattville Police Department's Tactical Team attended a Basic Tactical Operator Skills Course in Hoover, Alabama. The course was instructed by the Hoover Police Department Tactical Team.

These three officers were the last of the team to be trained. This training is going to become an APOST (Alabama Peace Officers Standards & Training) standard for tactical teams within Alabama. Prattville's team took the initiative to schedule and attend training in order to be in compliance before the standard becomes effective.

Our officers were instructed on tactical team movements, hostage rescue operations, tactical combat casualty care, recon-indoor and outdoor, combat shooting, gas chamber, mechanical door and window breaching, raid planning, equipment usage and placement, class room and intense practical exercises, and scenario-based training.

On the final day of training, all attendees were involved in a full scale hostage rescue.

While the City of Prattville hopes that we never need to use our tactical team, we are confident in the preparedness of the team to protect its citizens.
