Nap said that Mayor Mac Gray and City Clerk Donald Kelly hired him to get a fire truck running that they had purchased with green stamps. Nap says that he has loved his job with the City of Prattville. He spoke highly of his staff and his confidence in their ability to continue to provide good service to the City’s fleet of vehicles and equipment. Nap has received many commendations and letters of appreciation for his service to the City and our community.
There were many more letters of thanks from Mayor Whetstone and Mayor Price, Chief Crew (PPD), the Chamber of Commerce, and a number of others. “Of course, Nap was here when I was elected to the City Council back in 1992, and has been a fixture ever since,” said Mayor Jim Byard. “One of his most admirable traits is his sense of duty, especially concerning his family. I have seen him mentor young relatives, including discipline a son or grandson, basically teaching them how to survive and become a productive citizen. I appreciate his loyalty, and his sly sense of humor will be missed.” Nap has plans to travel immediately upon retirement. He and his wife plan to take their RV and head to San Antonio to spend a couple weeks with their daughter. He also plans to spend time in Annapolis with some buddies and their race cars. Nap's retirement reception is being held at the Gillespie Senior Center on Thursday, July 29th from 3-5 p.m. The City of Prattville wishes Nap the best that retirement has to offer. He will be greatly missed! |
