The City of Prattville is excited to announce that it will hold its Annual Christmas Parade on Friday, December 4, at 7 o’clock in the evening. The theme this year is “Christmas Around the World.” It will be a fun way to incorporate other cultures and traditions as well as our own hometown customs. There will be a contest for the floats or entries with the best interpretation of the theme, with ribbons and other prizes going to the winners.
The parade will begin at the Autauga County Courthouse at the corner of 4th and Court Streets and will meander through historic Downtown Prattville and back around to the Courthouse. There will be candy and other goodies tossed to onlookers as the floats, antique cars, dance groups, horses and others take part in this much anticipated annual event. Local bands will be stepping high and entertaining the crowds with holiday music. Families from all across the River Region will want to take part in this wonderful family-friendly event.
The Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony will be held on Monday, November 30, with festivities beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the grassy field on Court Street with a breathtaking view of the spillway in the background. The Prattville Pops and local dance groups will perform and Mayor Bill Gillespie, Jr. will flip the switch to light the Christmas Tree at 7:00 p.m.
Just after the Tree lights up, Santa will arrive to visit with the children and hear their Christmas wish lists. Be sure and bring your camera to capture this special moment for your children. And, of course, everyone will want to join in as the Prattville Community Chorus sings Christmas Carols for the crowd.
