It’s almost time for the City of Prattville’s 16th annual 4th of July Celebration and patrons can expect that the holiday will definitely go off with a bang!

This year’s 4th of July Parade theme is “Salute to Public Safety Personnel.” The parade beings at 9:00 a.m. at the Autauga County Courthouse and will end at Stanley-Jensen Stadium. Float participants are encouraged to decorate their entries with patriotic colors. Children on bikes, tricycles and scooters are also invited to participate in this family-fun parade. Grand marshals for this year’s parade are all current and retired Autauga County and City of Prattville Fire Fighters.

The annual Lion’s Club Bar-B-Q and Camp Stew Sale will take place at Pratt Park at 10:00 a.m. There will be music, a patriotic program, bake sale and arts and crafts. This year a children’s fun area will be featured, and the Pratt Pool will be open for public swimming from 1pm-3pm.

The annual “Cardboard Boat Races”, sponsored by the Parks and Rec. Dept., begin at 10:30am, with teams creating their competition boats out of cardboard and duct tape. Prizes include: Longest floating boat, the Titanic award for most dramatic sink, most creative and more. For information, call 595-0800.

The annual fireworks presentation will be held at Stanley Jensen stadium. Gates open at 6pm with a concert by the band “CREATIVITY.” A children’s area with inflatable slides and bounce houses will also be on site. Fireworks begin at dark. The admission to this spectacular event is FREE and the public is encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs. NO pets or bottles allowed.

16th Annual Independence Day Parade

The City of Prattville has announced that this year’s 4th of July Parade theme is “Salute to Public Safety Personnel.” In appreciation for their service, the Prattville Independence Day Celebration Committee is honoring all current and retired Prattville Fire Department and local Volunteer Fire Department Firefighters as Grand Marshals at the 4th of July Parade and Fireworks event. All firefighters wishing to take part in the Independence Day events need to make reservations by June 20, 2017. Please contact the City of Prattville Parks and Recreation Department at (334) 595-0800 to RSVP.

Annual Lion’s Club BBQ & Cardboard Boat Races

After the parade, join the fun at the annual Lion’s Club BBQ and Camp Stew Sale at Pratt Park. Music, a patriotic program, a children’s fun area and lots of arts and crafts will be on site. Hours: 10am-3pm. Free admission.

Entertaining is definitely one way to describe this event. Open to all ages! The boat races begin at approximately 10:30am, immediately following the parade. The teams will be creating their competition boats out of cardboard, pool noodles and duct tape. Trophies will be awarded for the Titanic, Most Creative and more. Two people, no more or less must race on the boats. Pre-registration not required but appreciated.
NEW!!! You may use ping pong paddles as oars, and pre-cut boats are allowed, but do not assemble any parts or pieces beforehand.

Severe Weather and Fire Safety Training

The Prattville Fire Department will have their Life Safety Trailer on display at Pratt Park from 10am-2pm. Bring your children by to learn important safety tips through hands-on activities. Children will learn what to do in case of a fire, severe weather and more.

Fireworks Presentation

Admission to this spectacular event is FREE and the public is encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs. No pets or alcohol or bottles allowed.
