The City of Prattville has just announced that due to the impending threat of inclement weather on Saturday, January 23, the Mardi Gras Parade and Celebration will be postponed to the new date of Saturday, February 6.

“We are very sorry to have to make this change and for the inconvenience it may cause some of our vendors and participants, but we have to consider safety first,” said Barbara Simpson of the Special Events office. “People come from throughout central Alabama to participate and to enjoy this event and we do not want to have people travel under the possible bad weather conditions.”

The event is being moved to Saturday, February 6, with vendors opening at 11:00 a.m. and the parade starting at 1:00 p.m., an hour earlier than previously planned.

For those of you who were not able to participate this week, we hope you will consider joining us on February 6.

For more information, please contact the Special Events Office at 334/595-0854.
