breastcancerribbonThe City of Prattville is asking all breast cancer survivors to join in a celebration of survival!!

In conjunction with the Montgomery Advertiser’s River Region campaign for breast cancer awareness,  the City of Prattville will be gathering around the Historical Fountain at Heritage Park on Friday, October 16th at 7am,  to “turn the fountain pink” in acknowledgment of local breast cancer survivors.

Local survivors will release pink balloons as a symbol of “letting go” of the cancer as Mayor Byard and selected survivors turn the water in the fountain pink.  The city is excited to have this opportunity to show support to breast cancer fighters, to admire the survivors and honor the taken, while encouraging hope and breast cancer awareness.

Every day in October, the Montgomery Advertiser will include personal stories of breast cancer survivors in their My Life section. The Montgomery Advertiser will dedicate itself to educating the public in October with resources needed for those seeking guidance during counseling, treatment, and family support, according to reporter Kym Klass.

The Montgomery Advertiser also will have a special educational (pink) section on Sunday, Oct. 11, which will be filled with resources needed for breast cancer survivors. The entire newspaper, on Friday, Oct. 16, will be pink. October 16 will also be promoted as "wear pink day."

For more information, or if you are a local breast cancer survivor and would like to take part in the event, please call the City of Prattville’s Special Events office at 334-358-0297.
