Swift Water Rescue & Dive Teams equipment: 2 outboard motors, 4 swift water dry suits, 6 swift water wet suits, and 4 DUI dry suits for dive rescue.

 

Department of Homeland Security Sustainment Grant for Heavy Rescue 6

This grant is funded by the Alabama Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and is designed to furnish money to sustain the equipment, certifications and training necessary for response to a Heavy Rescue or Disaster. The fire department has a heavy rescue team managed by the Alabama Mutual Aid System (AMAS) and responds to disasters when requested in conjunction with the Alabama Emergency Management Agency (AEMA).

After application by the team the sustainment grants are awarded annually through a funding committee that is chosen by the AMAS Executive Committee. Teams are awarded grants that are effective in August or September of each year and must be closed out by December 31st, the second year after it is awarded.

The project consist of replacement of the existing aeration equipment in One (1) Aeration Basin. This retrofit will include the installation of a fine bubble disk aeration system and Two (2) 25 HP Blowers with Variable Frequency Drives . The upgrade will result in a savings of electrical energy charges as well as provide a greater oxygen transfer, which will lead to a better quality effluent.
