TaxFreeHolidayThe City of Prattville is participating in Alabama's 16th Annual Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday. On April 20, 2021, the City Council passed an ordinance exempting certain "Covered Items" from the municipal sales and use tax during the third
weekend of July 2021. 


The sales tax holiday officially begins at 12:01 a.m. Friday, July 16, 2021, and ends at midnight Sunday, July 18, 2021, giving shoppers the opportunity to purchase certain school supplies, computers, books, and clothing free of the state and local sales or use tax.  


Exempt items include:

  • Clothing priced at $100 or less per article
  • School supplies valued at $50 or less per item
  • Books that cost $30 or less per book
  • Tablets, laptops, computers, and printers with a selling price of $750 or less
