The Prattauga Art Guild is pleased to announce an event that will take you back to the 60's Coffee House with jazz music, fresh coffee, great poetry and fine art! This artistic adventure will be held on Sunday, August 11, from 2-5 p.m. at the Doster Center at 424 Northington Street and promises to be a really cool time.

Edward George, of Prattville, will be featured with not only his textural abstract paintings, but also his amazing poetry. His published books of poetry will be available for purchase with a portion of the proceeds going to the Prattauga Art Guild for its special projects and programs. Sue Scalf, also of Prattville and a Pulitzer nominee for her poetry, will join in the festivities with readings of her original poetry as well.

Jazz will be provided by Danny Angel and the Back Beats. Danny Angel is a well-known musician and member of the Alabama Music Hall of Fame. This fine ensemble of musicians is the perfect fit for an afternoon of poetry and fine art.

Joining Edward George for the Art Exhibit are Kellie Newsome and Barbara Simpson, both local award winning artists and both are past presidents of the Prattauga Art Guild. Newsome, known for her vibrant color portraits and whimsical pieces, and Simpson, best known for her watercolors and unexpected angel pieces, will provide interest and dimension to the exhibit.

The Special Grind coffee shop of Prattville is providing a coffee bar with coffee and fresh baked scones with all proceeds going to the Art Guild.
