The City of Prattville has announced that this year's 4th of July Parade theme is once again "Salute to Honored Veterans, Heroes in our Hearts". In appreciation for their service to our country, the Prattville Independence Day Celebration Committee is honoring all Vietnam War Veterans as Grand Marshals this year at the Independence Day Parade and Fireworks Event, on Thursday, July 4th. Cars will be provided for those who would like to participate in the parade and a special section will be designated on the football field at Stanley Jensen Stadium for honored veterans at the fireworks event. All Vietnam War Veterans wishing to take part in the Prattville Independence Day events need to make reservations by June 1, 2013. Please contact the City of Prattville Special Events Office at (334) 358-0297 to RSVP.
The 4th of July parade will be held on Thursday, July 4th. The parade will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the Autauga County Courthouse and will end at Stanley-Jensen Stadium. Children on bikes, tricycles and scooters are also invited to participate in this family-fun parade.
Other events included in the 4th of July festivities will be the annual "Cardboard Boat Races", sponsored by the Parks and Rec Department, at the city pool, and the "Lion's Club Bar-B-Q and Camp Stew Sale," held at Pratt Park at 10:00 a.m. The annual fireworks presentation will be held at Stanley Jensen stadium. Gates open at 6pm with live entertainment and a patriotic program. Fireworks begin at dark. The admission to this spectacular event is FREE and the public is encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs. NO pets or bottles will be allowed on the field.
