It's almost time for the City of Prattville's 12th annual 4th of July Celebration and patrons can expect that the holiday will definitely go off with a bang!

This year's 4th of July Parade theme is "Salute to Honored Veterans, Heroes in our Hearts". The parade beings at 9:00 a.m. at the Autauga County Courthouse and will end at Stanley-Jensen Stadium. Float participants are encouraged to decorate their entries with patriotic colors. Children on bikes, tricycles and scooters are also invited to participate in this family-fun parade. Grand marshals for this year's parade are veterans who served in the Vietnam War.

The annual Lion's Club Bar-B-Q and Camp Stew Sale will take place at Pratt Park at 10:00 a.m. There will be music, a patriotic program, bake sale and arts and crafts. This year a children's fun area will be featured, and the Pratt Pool will be open for public swimming from 1pm-5pm.

The annual "Cardboard Boat Races", sponsored by the Parks and Rec. Dept., begin at 10:30am, with teams creating their competition boats out of cardboard and duct tape. Prizes include: Longest floating boat, the Titanic award for most dramatic sink, most creative and more. For information, call 361-3640.

The annual fireworks presentation will be held at Stanley Jensen stadium. Gates open at 6pm with live entertainment presented by the Prattville Pops and the Prattville Community Chorus and a patriotic program honoring this year's Grand marshals. A children's area with inflatable slides and bounce houses will also be on site. Fireworks begin at dark. The admission to this spectacular event is FREE and the public is encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs. NO pets or bottles allowed.
