The City of Prattville Wastewater Department will be working on our sewer lines in the Allenville Road area next month. The sewer lines are a foot deeper than the water table there. These lines are taking in water due to leaks or damage. This condition makes it more costly to treat and the repairs will correct this situation and realize a cost savings in the process.
Engineering will open one of the gates on the dam to begin lowering the water level in the millpond later this afternoon. It will take between 10-14 days to release enough water for work to begin. Work should be completed by the end of August unless we encounter inclement weather that might delay work.
Releasing additional water into Autauga Creek below the dam will affect conditions for kayaking and canoeing. It will be a slow release so the increase should be gradual and hopefully, the effects will be minimal.
Please watch this website or our City Facebook page (www.facebook.com/PrattvilleALgov) for updates and photos. If you have any questions or require additional information about this project, please contact Wastewater Director Rick Teague at or (334) 595-0641.
