The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a red flag warning from 1-7 p.m. today and 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. tomorrow, March 14th for Autauga and Elmore Counties, which includes the City of Prattville.
A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures will create explosive fire growth potential. Our winds will be from the northwest at 10-20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph. The relative humidity will drop as low as 19%. The combination of a dry air mass and windy conditions will results in critical fire weather conditions. Alabama Forestry has stated that outdoor burning is not recommended.
Prattville Fire Marshall Dallis Johnson will not be issuing burn permits within the City limits for the remainder of this week. He will reevaluate conditions on Monday, March 18th.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Prattville Fire Department at (334) 361-3660.
