Come out and paint the town! The City of Prattville will be bursting with color and creativity on Friday and Saturday, March 24 & 25, as visual artists from throughout the River Region come to 2023 prattville plein air event poster“Paint Prattville!” This annual plein air painting event is hosted by the Prattauga Art Guild as a part of the month-long Celebration of the Arts, which leads up to the Wilson Pickett Music & Arts Festival on Saturday, April 1.

The Prattville Creative Arts Center and Gallery will open its doors from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. as a home base for artists as they go out to paint scenes in and around Prattville. Plein air painting is a rewarding experience that is mentally stimulating yet relaxing, helps develop your artistic ability, provides some exercise, and allows you to spend some time outdoors in beautiful places. Prattville offers a myriad of subject matter for artists, from the historic architecture to the Autauga Creek dam and spillway and the well-known Musgrove Fountain. The bamboo garden, Pratt Park, and the many artesian wells, for which Prattville became known as the “Fountain City,” will be subjects of paintings as the artists descend upon the community.

Participation as an artist in this event is free, but registration is required. Artists who would like to be a part of this outdoor painting event should contact the Cultural Arts and Special Events office at 334-595-0850 or visit www.prattvilleal.gov.
