Prattville Fire Department Training is holding swift water training classes on Autauga Creek this week. They held classes behind City Hall this morning and are currently in the millpond above the dam this afternoon.

There are 40+ participants from multiple fire departments attending this class. Of particular interest is the night training to be conducted on Thursday night. The training will be held from the dam all the way down to the Doster Artesian Well. It will begin around 7:30 and last approximately 2 hours.

"We just wanted to make everyone aware of the training that we are conducting so that no one thought a search and rescue event was in progress," said Lt. Ricky Roberts, Prattville Fire Department. "This training prepares firefighters all over the state to respond effectively when water is involved in a rescue."

The Stanley Gann Fire Training Facility became a regional training facility for the Alabama Fire College in January 2012. The City of Prattville was the first to sign a contract with the Alabama Fire College and Personnel Standards Commission.
