Prattville Police Department Kicks Off New Season of Civilian Firearms Training
Over the past three years, the Prattville Police Department has provided the Civilian Firearms Safety and Familiarization Course to the general public. This course takes an attendee through basic safety, care, and proper use of a firearm.
"If you are going to own a firearm, it is imperative that you learn how to use it safely, as well as how to take care of it so that it functions properly," stated PPD Firearms Instructor Lt. Wayne Barlow. "This class will provide a good foundation for those who own a weapon and those who are contemplating purchasing one."
The two classes in March are already full. The next class date is scheduled for April 27, 2013. Attendees are required to pay a $10 fee that will be used to cover the cost of the targets. Those interested in attending need to complete the registration form on the City of Prattville website. Click the PPD logo on the left side of the home page to access information about the class and also to register. Each attendee must be 21 or older and pass a criminal history check before attending the course. Anyone prohibited from owning or possessing a firearm will be deemed ineligible to attend.
