Prattville Police Department, under the leadership of Chief Mark Thompson, has created a new crime scene unit to more accurately and thoroughly process crime scenes and to gather evidence to promptly and successfully close cases here in the City of Prattville.

On March 4, 2013, Prattville Police Department responded to a burglary at an apartment complex within the city limits. Once our Patrol Division requested assistance from our Investigation Division, Investigator T.R. Hope and our new Crime Scene Unit, Investigators Tom Allen and John Lee, responded to the scene. The crime scene was processed and prints were taken that have resulted in the arrest of Reggie Lamont Haley (B/M DOB 6/6/83) of Montgomery.

Montgomery County Sheriff's Office Crime Scene Unit processed a scene where they obtained evidence also placing Haley in crimes in Montgomery. Our investigators were fortunate enough to have been trained by this unit at this crime scene.

"This is just a small example of what our citizens can expect from this new unit and our investigators," stated Police Chief Mark Thompson. "Crimes will be solved in a more timely manner. This is just another tool for our Police Department to utilize in making Prattville a hard target for criminal activity. We want to thank the Montgomery Sheriff's Office for their help in getting our Crime Scene Unit up and running. This is what happens when we work together to fight crime in the River Region."

"The perception of the City of Prattville is viewed considerably through our departments," stated Mayor Bill Gillespie, Jr. "I am proud of Chief Thompson and the enhancements he is making within PPD. He and our officers are to be commended for their hard work and dedication to our citizens."
